Costume Guidelines & Basic Rules:
1. Contestants can costume from any genre. Original characters as well as variations, cross-
gender and cross-genre re-interpretations are welcome. 
2. There is a cap of 40 entries. Advance registration online is recommended. If slots are 
available, contestants can register the morning of the contest.
3. Only 1 category per contestant allowed. (ie. Costumers that are entered as part of a group 
may not enter as an individual.)
4. There is no children’s category.
5. Please, no overtly gory, messy, lewd or vulgar costumes. All entries must maintain a PG 
rating, suitable for a young audience. 
6. At least 70% of your outfit must be made and/or manipulated. 
7. The organizers reserve the right to refuse anyone into the contest who does not 
comply with the above guidelines.
8. On the day of the event, contestants must be in costume and lined-up 30 minutes before 
start time.
9. Be prepared for a possible short Q&A from judges about your costume and character. 
Please keep answers simple and to the point.
10. Be considerate during your time on stage. Ensure everything that goes onstage with you, 
goes offstage with you. 
11. Owing to the limited timeframe, no skits will be allowed. No pre-recorded audio devices 
will be provided or permitted.
Categories:
* Best Individual Entry
* Best Duo or Group Entry (less than 6) 
* Best Crossplay or Gender-Swapped character
All entries will be up for consideration for Best in Show
Judging Guidelines
Judging will be based on a point system and five distinct criteria. Each winner will be derived 
from the judges’ cumulative scores. Judging will be broken into 2 sessions.
The Pre-judging session where entrants will be scored on:
* Accuracy: How authentic the entry is to the details and/or to the spirit of the character 
* Originality: Uniqueness of entry or creativity of design
* Craftsmanship: Quality of construction and execution.
* Difficulty: Technical complexity of the design and design components.
The  scheduled contest where entrants will be rated on
* Showmanship: Style, presentation and personality.
